Columbus has a small-shop scene that punches way above its size. Skip the big-box run and spend a Saturday morning in these neighborhoods instead — you'll come home with something better and support someone who actually lives here.
Books and paper: The Book Loft in German Village is legendary — 32 rooms of new and discounted books in a converted set of pre–Civil War houses. Prologue Bookshop in the Short North is smaller, curated, and perfect for a gift. Two Dollar Radio Headquarters in Old Franklinton doubles as an indie publisher, café, and vinyl shop.
